I just flew with a pilot that was one of our more senior captains who is now one of our most junior first officers. He retired 3 weeks before the FAA raised the age of flying from 60 to 65. He has a good sense of humor about it... you would have to right? He had to go back through training, flying weekends and took a huge pay cut. We had a good laugh after we realized I was making more money then him.
He's very excited to fly another 5 years!

The Captain in that picture looks like Ron Jeremy, the porn star! (I only know what Ron Jeremy's face looks like--really!)
So it was a forced retirement because of his birthday? And then a mandatory paycut for coming out of retirement, etc? What bad timing. Great that he loves flying so much.
