Stepford/Wisteria Lane... Does the perfect neighborhood really exist?

While traveling I always check out sites, people and the local architecture. Since I live in a desert when I travel I thoroughly enjoy trees, flowers and anything that is not South West or Tuscan (the current housing fad in Arizona) Design.

We stumbled upon a "perfect" neighborhood in Newport Beach, California. We even saw a Stepford Wife and Ken Doll saying their goodbyes in front of a perfectly manicured lawn. I felt like we were on a movie set. Could it be Wisteria Lane? We saw bikes propped in front of a perfectly designed home. Then we turned the corner and the Stepford children were selling lemonade. The lemonade was terrible... thank goodness, I can only handle so much perfection!

Welcome to Wisteria Lane...

Great observations about the Stepford neighborhood. I like the manicured archway in the first photo. Wonder how long it took to get it looking like that.

I saw your name in Dutch Baby and came to say hello. You wrote a funny post. I could not live on a road where you have to keep a manicured loan. We have one acre here and it is mostly covered with pines and native brushes. I do have a fig tree though and it has so many figs right now that I have to hurry and make some jam.
